Carpentry were asked to make an open-plan downstairs living
area into a two rooms. Constructing a stud wall partition, we fitted
a pair of double french doors with added skylight for improved lighting
between the lounge and the dining area to effectively create a dining
room and separate lounge area. This had the effective of sound-proofing
one area from the other, improving heat retention and effectively addressing
the privacy issues frequently experienced in the more modern home. Mum
was very pleased with her new, improved kitchen/dining area which she
could escape to with Radio 2 and the teenagers could watch MTV to their
hearts content with ne'er a crossed word! At the same time we were asked
to make the large and unattractive radiator more aesthetically pleasing.
To achieve this we made a bespoke radiator cover, together with an MDF
framework and applied taurus skirting for a "it's been here forever"
look. We fashioned a routered edge mantle with profiled edges for safety
and decorated and waxed to the customer's requirements.
