Carter's
Carpentry were asked to rectify a bedroom floor which had had
building alterations commissioned by the previous resident. The Client
reported that the floor had appeared to drop a little and furniture was
leaning heavily in one corner and slight cracks were appearing in their
bedroom wall. Upon closer inspection we unveiled a 1 inch void in the
brickwork (supporting the bedroom wall) and the floor joists. This presented
a risk of subsidence and/or collapse. We liased with the Client and their
Building Surveyors who confirmed immediate action needed to be taken.
We employed the services of our Bricklaying Contractors that day and soon
had the wall properly supported. We bolted essential strengtheners and
joist extensions onto the existing joists and into the landing area to
ensure complete safety and strength. The previously trapped utility cabling
and pipework was secured and accommodated into the new joists.
